We needed a designer who understood our intent and lifestyle and could also navigate the supply chain and Covid issues. Additionally, there was little time for planning as we were already finishing the demolition and preparing for new construction. We interviewed several designers but it was clear that Corey had a superior grasp of what we wanted to do. Our selection of Curate Studios came down to 3 main points: 1. Corey and Hugh understood where we wanted to go and there initial ideas reflected that. They did not try to push 'their' vision on us but enhanced our vision from concept to reality. 2. Excellent communication. Corey always provided timely and relevant information and was constantly handling small details and coordinating with our construction crew. 3. Finally, their bid proposal was excellent with both the pricing and process details being clear, concise and fair. Excellent work under some very difficult conditions. Corey and Hugh have our highest recommendation and we would gladly use them again. In fact, we had them come back and decorate the house for Christmas!

I honestly cannot recommend Hugh Scarbrough and Curate Studios highly enough. I have worked with him on the nursery of our Manhattan apartment, then our entire Denver apartment, and, most recently, our home in Park Cities of Dallas. That’s not to mention the projects he has done for my parents’ home in Plano, TX. He is a truly gifted designer. His capacity for spatial arrangement is amazing. He marries creativity with comfort and practicality in a way I didn’t know was possible— all while being an absolute blast to work with. His relationships with other professionals, vendors, artisans, and craftsmen in the industry make just about anything a possibility for his clients… for a price, that is! His fee is actually very reasonable considering the caliber of his talent and resources. Go with Hugh. You will be forever grateful that you did.

During Covid, we turned to Corey for a home remodel which included a kitchen remodel and half bath update as well as redesign of a staircase.  In spite of the restrictions and difficulties of dealing with Covid, we were able to redesign the layout of our kitchen to accommodate a counter depth fridge and alleviate the congestion area we had struggled with for years.  We replaced all the original appliances and plumbing and are so pleased with the updated result. We transformed our carpeted staircase into a traditional wooden feature, replacing the treads as well as the newel post, along with all the floor moldings to match our travertine floors.  In spite of working around shortages and long lead times, the project went smoothly and we were minimally inconvenienced.  Again, I highly recommend Corey.  He made the process as painless as possible and the results exceeded our expectations.

Have worked with members of or both leaders of this great team on a few projects and have always been delighted. From designing and overseeing a build out of trauma-informed office/services space to artwork selection to shopping for key pieces of furniture for our home, I have always been impressed and enjoyed the experience. This team is now family and will be my go-to for future projects.
